If you are a Texans fan, you get kind of worried that the Texans' left tackle position is jinxed.
The Texans lost rookie left tackle Charles Spencer for the year because of a broken leg. Backup left tackle Ephraim Salaam injured his groin on Sunday and had to leave the game for a while. Brad Bedell, a player just added to the team was asked to spell him for a number of plays, with uh, ungood results unless you are a Miami fan.
Salaam says he will be ready to go by the Cowboys game next week. According to Gary Kubiak on his radio show, the Texans are redoubling their efforts to get rookie tackle Eric Winston prepared to play that position as well.
In the 2002 expansion draft, the Texans took Tony Boselli and not Willie Roaf. Why? Originally Roaf was on the expansion draft list for New Orleans, but was withdrawn after he didn't pass the physical. Boselli passes the physical, the Texans sell a lot of Boselli jerseys, and then he never plays a down for the Texans because of his malpracticed-on shoulder. Roaf ends up playing four more Pro Bowl years with the Chiefs.
